BlackBook - Wednesday, 23 June 2021

Please see below for our #BlackBook runner comments for Wednesday, 23 June 2021. The runner's highlighted are our #BlackBook runners (the key runners of focus), while those included in the 'other' section of each race are additional runner's that have jumped out well enough to be worth noting.

CRANBOURNE - Race 1

#3 GOLDEN RIDGE (4) - M Laurie

The grey, GREY AT THE READY backed up her May 12 win with another nice win in Heat 9 on May 26 (white with black sleeves). This was the third jump out for the 2yo filly, able to hold out those closing on her to win. She looked to move quite well and the form from that May 12 jump out is okay, she went to the line with Snow Dragon who has since ran 3rd. She can go well on debut.

GOLDEN RIDGE also looks quite handy. This 2yo filly looked super finishing 2nd in Heat 9 on May 26 (blue), closing well out wide after travelling wide throughout. Her May 12 also had her closing well, so she might have a nice turn of foot. Watching for a debut.

Grey At The Ready ran 4th in a Geelong maiden behind a very impressive Godolphin winner, Zapateo.

OTHER

A previous feature of our review prior to her debut, #8 RUE VIVIENNE was a disappointing 6th that day. Immediately spelled, she made a winning return in Heat 4, coming over the top of the leaders in the straight. She’s very well bred and her jump outs have been super, she just didn’t bring it to the races but suspect there may have been an issue considering she was tipped out immediately. Keeping an eye out for her, hopefully another jump out as she looks to have talent.

CRANBOURNE - Race 5

OTHER

Impressive by #6 NICK’EM in Heat 5, on Jun 15, jumping straight to the front and leading the whole way to record a nice 5L+ win in the fastest time of the morning. A 1000m BM58 or BM64 will suit this gelding first up (and second up), but don’t jump off him if he doesn’t win as he looks to go best second up, and also appreciates the wet with 6 starts on soft/heavy for his 2 wins and only 2 placings (5 starts for 0 wins and 0 placings on good/synthetic).
